Neon Signs

PowerPoint’s WordArt lends itself well to making a neo-sign type of animated slide. In PowerPoint, choose Insert, Picture, WordArt and select one of the more gaudy offerings. Call it Neon (or whatever you wish).

Select your WordArt and choose Edit, Copy (or press Ctrl-C). Now press Ctrl-M to create a new slide. Choose Edit, Paste (or press Ctrl-V) to paste your WordArt onto the second slide. Right-click the WordArt you just pasted and choose Format WordArt. Click the Colors and Lines tab and choose a darker color for the WordArt. Click OK after you make your selection.

Now you have a brightly colored sign on one slide and a more darkly colored sign on the second slide. To make the sign flash, choose View, Slide Sorter. Right-click the first slide and choose Slide Transition. Select the Automatically After check box and then set the time to 1 second. Click Apply to All.

Choose Slide Show, Set Up Show and select Loop Continuously Until Esc. Select the radio button labeled Using Timings if Present and click OK. Now choose View, Slide Show to see how your animated neon sign looks in action.
