June 13th, 2007 - Life on an Island

My life is full of paddling!  I have found my home, great friends, a fine job, an amazing lifestyle, and an unbelievable amount of Aloha!

Some things I have been doing and what is coming into my life.

Paddling:  This is outrigger canoe paddling.  A large canoe that holds 6 team members.  During the year we paddle 3 days a week.  From March through August we compete against the 8 clubs on our island and then at the end of the season we paddle against the state.  State competition is on our island this year, so you can imagine the excitement.

Visit my Paddling Club's website at http://kawaikini.org and check out the Photo Gallery to see what I have been up to the last few months.

Work:  I work at Kauai Community College as a Microsoft Application Instructor.  I also tend to work in the Office of Continuing Education and Training quite a bit.  It's a great place to work and a large part of my life.

Home:  Tada!  I have purchased a home and close at the end of the month.  Amazing!  With the prices here I never imagined I would be able to accomplish this.  I'm very excited.  i'll move in around the first of September.  There are renters in the house now and the agreement was they had 45 days but I extended it.  I'm really looking forward to moving as this location called Nawilliwilli is on the bay of Kalapaki, a very central area to everything.  It's also extremely close to my work and the river where I paddle 3 days a week

Extra Stuff:  Paddling has taken up a lot of time in the last few months but Samantha and I have still been able to balance our life with a little fun.

We still camp often as the camping sites here are "heaven on earth".

We try to go to the beach, but often the beach trips are instead to the Regatta competitions for paddling.

We have not kayaked much these last few months, but we have a trip planned along the Na Pali Coast in July with some friends.

My brother Hal and his wife will be coming here this year again as they have for years and we really look forward to that all year.  It's great fun to play with them when they are here.

Samantha is lov'n it!  And so am I!

I added this today because I'm really missing all my friends and family lately.  Although my life is full I haven't forgotten the good times with friends and my super co-workers in Texas.  I wanted you to know I am still here and catch you up on the news since I haven't been adding to the website much anymore.

Aloha!
