October 23, 2006 & Another Party later in November

Last night we had a fantastic house warming and Lanai christening with friends.  Rhian, Craig, Tom and John  (Acoustic Time Travelers) played music and the rest of us just had a generally good time with food and drink. PICTURES

We have really worked hard on getting our new rental house in shape and were anxious to get some of our friends out here to see.  We moved to Lawai, which is a more central location than Kapa'a, where we were before.  We are renting from a gentleman who lives in Thailand.  We wanted to move to a place that was more private and closer to Lihue for my travel needs.  It has 3 1/2 acres with most of that acreage down the sloping mountain behind us.  The house has 2 bedrooms, a loft, and one bathroom.  We have huge trees surrounding the house.  One of my favorites is the Albizia (also called the Fairy or Mimosa tree), it originally came from Africa.  We also have coconut, lime, orange (choke orange), strawberry and regular passion fruit, usually called Lili Koi.  The road to our place is a bumpy dirt road that dead ends at our house.  The house yard was overgrown, and the house generally in disrepair, but I feel we have finally fixed it enough to make ourselves very comfortable.  Here are some before and after shots to help you get the general idea.   VIDEO
