I've opened a Vacation Rental Nov.2007! Click HERE to check it out. I wrote in this blog for 2 years and now after 3 years I'm excited to say I AM HERE Permanently! Come over and visit, I know you'll love it! Dawn 10/20/08 |
I went to the PGA Grand Slam of Golf today. This is the "toughest qualifying of any event in golf". Each participant is a 2005 major championship winner. The game will be televised (7 p.m.-10 p.m. ET on TNT) and Wednesday (6 p.m.-10 p.m. ET on TNT) so look for me on TV!
First was a Champions Clinic that was live on the Golf channel today. Phil Mickelson doesn't arrive until tomorrow and Tiger Woods is recovering from a sprained ankle and stomach virus so he didn't play today but will be there for the main event.
Today's events were kind of like a practice. Michael Campbell & Vijay Singh demonstrated the knockdown shot by breaking panes of glass; the lob shot that showcases skills in hitting over a "Flop Wall," and distance control, where players hit shots from distances below 150 yards into designated frames. It was great fun and lots of laughs as they showed us how it's done and also not done - usually not on purpose.
Today was the only day we could get autographs and take a camera so below are the pictures I took. Ralph and his friend David took some great photos too so I may add to this later.
This game is Best Ball or "Closest to the Pin". Each player hits but they play from the best ball so the game moves pretty fast. Each Professional plays with invited guests. One was Sam Choy, a well know chef here that you may have seen on TV. Also, some were Poipu Bay Pros. Most others I did not know who they were.
Tomorrow Tiger Woods, Michael Campbell, Phil Mickelson, & Vijay Singh will play as a foursome competing against each other. It should be pretty exciting. Watch for me on TV - I'll be wearing a red T-shirt and my new hat (pictured below). See chat for some discussion.
UPDATE: Yes, Tiger Woods Won J
