I am at CHRISTUS now, working in biomed.  Took a HUGE paycut - So now you know how to reach me. I sure wish I could come see you - you look great on your "aloha" training page! I will visit again- Roylene

Hi Dawn! I am finally getting to read about all of your fantastic adventures! You are so lucky and blessed! I started at the very beginning and had to skip to your most recent entries as I only have one hour for lunch which I took at my desk today just so I could "visit with you". I was trying to see your new condo but for some reason it appears to have loaded but that was as far as I could get. I will continue tomorrow and honestly I can't wait! So take care of yourself and I will keep reading about all the wonderful things that you are doing. Aloha! Kristi

Comments from Dawn - May 23, 2006 - Hey Kristi, thanks for having lunch with me!

Here is a new video of my condo that might work for you.  Much better than the last.  Hope it works.  Thanks for visiting and maybe your and Ann can some day visit.  Hope all is well with you and tell Fran I said ALOHA!  PS.. Samantha says Aloha also!

Hope you and Sam have a nice Easter Holiday. I'll be going to get Krispy Kreme donuts for the nurses where Mom lives. I'll probably get Mom and her roommate taquitos. Stay a while and come home and do some more painting. Kristi will probably come over at some point for some of Mom's roast and potatoes. We still need rain. Send some this way. LY, Ann

Comments from Dawn - April 16, 2006 - Happy Easter to you and yours also Ann.  Thanks for the best wishes.  The rain has quieted down now - Thank goodness.  We still get some each day but more like what we are used to, the light whispy stuff I love.  Sounds like you are still working on the house for your eventual move?  Send me an email sometime to catch me up on the house progress.  Tell Kristi Sam and I say Hi!

Hi Dawn ... I am so envious and yet so very happy for you, wow. What a story, I am by no means an avid reader, but reading about your adventures was like a book you can't put down. Sandy told me about your web site yesterday, started reading last night and could not stop. This is so awesome; please keep updating the board with your adventures. You know, you probably have a best seller here. At some point you could write then publish a book on how to successfully relocate to paradise, here are your notes <smile>, I am totally serious. This is an inspiring and for me a reinvigorating story. After I read everything last night, I was just totally smiling from ear to ear... awesome...Rick Barr

Comments from Dawn - January 20, 2006 - So glad to hear from you Rick.  Sandy has been a great cheerleader for me as I settled in.  I know you two have been here and loved it as much as I do.  Thanks for the complement about inspiring people.  I really am still shocked that I did it and I'm glad I brought a smile to you.  The weather has been pretty different this last few weeks.  It ranges in the mid-70s with rain most of the time.  Today it is coming down pretty good.  Not like the rain during the rest of the year that seems to refresh your senses with fresh island and flower smells afterward. I'm glad you visited my site, hope all is well with you also.  Mahalo nui loa

I watched for you on TV today and never quite was able to pick you out of the crowd (lots of red shirts out there), but you can be assured I will watch again tomorrow. It is so cool to watch all these guys playing on the same golf course I played on last time I was there. Maybe after becoming a 1st-time grandpa (January 7th due date) and a 2nd-time father-in-law (March 25th) I will someday be able to come and watch this tournament with you. BILL (brother in warm Arizona playing golf in Sedona next week)

Comments from Dawn - November 22, 2005 - Today was just as fun as yesterday!  About the only holes I think you will see me at on TV are 16, 15, 11, and maybe 12.  It was crowded today, at least more than yesterday.  I'm hoping some will be to exhausted to come back tomorrow.  I was just behind all of the players as they teed off for hole 16 so watch for me there again.  The camera seemed to be looking right at me.  There were a lot that just walked ahead, cut across, etc. and probably only watched 5 or so holes.  I saw all but 2 today when I walked across and had some lunch.  I'm a bit more tired than yesterday but still raring to go for tomorrow.  I'll wear yellow tomorrow as I saw very few that had yellow on today.  I wish you were here, I know you would really get a kick out of this also.

Tiger was pretty sick the first three holes.  He teed off at the first hole, ran to the bushes, and threw up.  He was shaking pretty bad but definitely seemed to recover as he ended up in the lead today.   It was great to watch them all.  They make it look so easy.

Hi, Dawn! Exciting and surprising that you would... 1) go to a PGA event, and 2) have a good time at it! I like your hat, and I really like the players. Michael Campbell is a favorite for me as I have been to his "home country" a few times (let your normal readers guess the country), and really enjoyed it. And of course Fiji's best golfer (of all time, for sure) is also fun to watch. I will look for you on TV tomorrow! Paul (brother in cold Ohio)

Comments from Dawn - November 21, 2005 - Yes, a little surprising but I've always liked Golf and Baseball; just not on TV and I really do wish I would play as much as you and Bill do.  Also, the price was right, just 20 dollars for 3 days of fantastic entertainment!  I had the best time and yes I know what country Michael's from also and won't give it away.  I would love to visit there.  We looked up his bio first thing today as we were very curious about him and he was actually quite interesting and funny.  Vijay was also very friendly and relaxed.  I could tell Michael was taking the practice session to heart.  If he missed a putt, he continued to practice until he had it before he left each hole.

I'll bet you are cold!  It is in the 40's in Corpus Christi so can only imagine how awful it is in Ohio.  It's in the 70's here but we did get a bit of rain today during the game.  I ducked under a Hala tree - dried fronds used for weaving lauhala mats, hats and jewelry, etc., and stayed quite dry.

Comments from Dawn - October 14, 2005 - I'm so glad everyone is settling in from the hurricane.  I see the news says it's still pretty bad in some areas as they try to recuperate.  Everything is great with me.  I'm just doing the samo, samo lately so nothing really to write about.  I'm watching for whales soon.  500 whales give birth in the waters between where I live and Oahu and everyone says we can see them from the bottom of our street so I've been watching the newspaper .  I don't want to miss the first one's to arrive.  The waters are very dangerous right now so snorkeling has been difficult.  I really just haven't had anything new to add to the site but I'll keep looking for something new to share.  So glad to hear from you.  I had great fun sending everyone the scary video and was glad to have gotten quite a few gothcha's with it. Comments from Dawn - September 20, 2005 - Hey Veronica!  I hope you do fine with hurricane Rita.  Thinking about everyone there.  I talked with my kids today about their plans and expressed my concern that they leave if it gets to be a 4 or more.  They have friends in Austin so they'll go there if need be.  We have Jova here.  It started moving NE last night though so it looks like we may just get some waves.  Two more Tropical storms behind it that they are watching now but no news so far.  Take care and let me know how its going.  Aloha!

Comments from Dawn - September 20, 2005 - Unbelievable isn't it?  I love spear fishing.  It's great entertainment and I have had some fantastic meals.  I can't believe you brought that up after how many years?  For everyone else when I started building the database for tracking fish for the CC Aquarium I was trying to figure out input/output of the fish; as in tracking when, where, and number of fish in the door and also mortality rate.  I asked Sally if we could tag them or something.  It was very funny and I don't think I will ever live it down.

Aloha Dawn, Loved the picture of the java sparrow and cardinal on your bird feeder. I have a feeder similar to yours but have pretty much given up trying to fill it. At least 300 java sparrows rushed the feeder and wiped it out within minutes! They are very aggressive and won't let any other birds have a chance. Creeped me out to have so many sparrows on the powerline next to my driveway..right out of Hitchcock's "The Birds". My feeder is now a planter. Oh well, I'm a plant geek anyway. Great web page, I quess you do have a computer! Aloha, Wendy

Comments from Dawn - September 19, 2005 - Wendy is one of the tour guides for Movie Tours for everyone out there.  I mention her at: http://kauaidawn.com/Kauai/DawnsAdventures24.htm .  Today Wendy asked me if I had a computer as she wanted to email me something.  I started laughing and told her what my real job is and she really got a kick out of that.

So glad you checked out the site Wendy.  Yes, the Java Sparrow's are very aggressive and yet so much fun to watch.  The Cardinals manage to get their turns but sometimes they are chased away as you said.  Yes, you are a plant geek and know so much (Wendy's other job is at Allerton Estate and National Tropical Botanical Gardens in Poipu).  I look forward to working with you all the time as I learn more each time and I really am interested in learning the plants here.  Aloha

I haven't looked at this for awhile, sorry, but I had a few minutes and it was nice to catch up with your life. My family just got back from vacation from San Juan and Vieques, Puerto Rico. We had a nice week. We stayed in a hotel on the beach, but the girls complain that they didn't get enough beach time, and they are probably right... I recommend Vieques island for anyone visiting Puerto Rico, as it is generally unspoiled and has beautiful beaches and decent snorkeling. We also enjoyed kayaking to the bio-luminescent bay at night to experience the glowing micro-organisms and swim among them! This was the highlight of the trip! We also got to see Carmen's real father, and also visited many of her relatives (boy, does she have a lot of relatives, and the food they prepare is fantastic!). Thanks, Fran, for your nice comments about my Normandy narrative, I am still moved by the experience, and look at even the daily news about Iraq differently as a result of my visit there. I am glad to hear that your new job is fun, Dawn. I hope it continues that way... Take care, Paul

Comments from Dawn - August 10, 2005 - So great to see that you have checked in.  Hal will be here tomorrow with Karen, Desire and Jeanette.  I'm really looking forward to seeing them and wish you could have dropped in when they are here too.  I love this picture you sent that was taken in Puerto Rico, to share on the Bean's family website, so I put it here also and hope the girls don't mind.  The girls are looking so beautiful and it's hard to believe Michelle is so grown up! How time flies.  The glowing water would have been a major treat for me as well.  I remember Kauai and San Clemente, Ca when it was like that.  Not anymore.  Mahalo!

Yeah, us old ladies will get together and watch again. Judy is more than ready. But I think this time I am not going to cook so many desserts. By the time Fran cooks something rich and I bring a pie or cake we are all miserable. Sometimes we just have salads, which I really like better, especially when it is hot. Fran and I went to Alteno's tonight. Their food is so far superior to Rays, I wonder why we went there for so long. Cause the other place has been around a long time also. Ann

Finally looked at your new digs. Love it! Colorful also. Looks like you have a lot of stuff.....again! Glad to hear you are enjoying your Movie Tour job. You'll be good narrating the tours when it is time, as we all know you love to talk.....lol! I enjoy reading your narratives, although I haven't written in a while to tell you so. Nothing much to report from here, just the same old same old stuff. By the way I did get your test. Something is messed up with my email. I can read it at work but not at home. I'll have to look into that when I have an hour or so to spend on the tele finding out why. Love ya, Ann

Comments from Dawn - August 1, 2005 - I'm so glad you wrote.  It's good to know you are following along and I missed hearing from you.  Bummer that your email is kaput.  Hate that.  I had problems with mine last week but finally worked it through and got it working again.  Yes, the accumulation continues even though I did sell a lot.  I thought I had it down to the basics but actually ended up with a pile of stuff I'll be taking to the goodwill, Yes, I think I would like narrating, but am glad to wait and see if I can learn some more about this amazing place.  Survivor and The Apprentice starts next month so we'll have to talk about that.  I'm going to set up a Survivor game at work since there are 4 other people that are as into it as I am.  I'm working on doing it like the online version where you can trade members and vote on tasks.  Should be fun.  I'm still working on the logistics.  Are you and Fran planning to watch at her house again with Judy?

I am continually amazed by your adventures...spear fishing is not something that I think of when I think of my little sister. Eating something you catch is not generally regarded as a "Gant" activity...so I guess you can remain a ..., although I'm not sure your environmentalist daughter would approve. Aloha...Bill

Comments from Dawn - July 29,2005 - Oh yes, definitely a ... thing as I do not remember fishing even being discussed in our household.  I'll tell you I met this great environmentalist who is a mighty Hawaiian celebrity here and he loves fish.  Says we are saving the reefs so we can eat the fish ourselves and not leave any for the commercial fisherman.  I'm all for that.  So, hopefully Sam (my loving daughter the tree hugger) will understand J.  I can't wait to get my first catch and I'll definitely take a picture to prove it.

Comments from Dawn - July 29,2005 - It is hard to believe huh?  I'm hoping it will be satisfying also.  It's funny I used to fish all the time in Georgia with my husband and then when I went to Texas I just didn't like surf fishing. I think rivers were my speed - and taste.  Now I'm very interested in this.  I like the idea of eating something I catch and Every One here fishes just about.  The exercise is great and I really enjoyed the extreme swimming versus going to the gym yesterday.  Thanks for the "Happy Hunting"... I like this "old" format better too. Gives me more of a chance to eavesdrop on others comments...LOL. Just saw your response about Dad's Military Charter flights... I didn't ever remember you being young...LOL. Anyway, Dad's airplane even got shot at in VietNam once or twice. Pretty scary when your flying an airliner. He said that his stops in DaNang with personnel, equipment, etc. were very brief but exciting. Most of the time was in Manila and Honolulu doing planning and logistics. He was gone up to 3 weeks at a time. I'm pretty sure that was 1965 or 1966. Enjoyed reading your latest adventures...sounds like quite an experience. See ya, Bill

Comments from Dawn - July 15,2005 - I really wish we had heard more of Dad's experiences.  I think I remember him saying that he would never jump out of a perfectly good airplane and that he had once because it wasn't.  Was that anything you heard?  I'm still enjoying my adventure here.  I finally got my camera back yesterday with a bit of a shortness of breath there for awhile when it was mistakenly delivered to Sears, next door to the UPS store, and they said they couldn't find it.  I went up there and stood until they found it.  Made my heart jump.  I can't wait to play with the video producer with those videos now.

It was about the time it charged for my bedroom I seriously considered calling the property manager. I had been told that he will come get them out at any time ... night or day. But, I thought lordy, 1am is not a good time to be walking around the condos in my nightgown and where would it be when I got back? In my bed? Yuk. Thanks for the encouragement on the diet... loved our AIM chat today. I was so proud of myself with this mornings longest workout it was great to brag. But, let me tell you... running up Spohn's 11 flights of stairs is just sick Troy... no wonder everyone is avoiding you!

Yucky spider!! I don't care how "helpful" it is.. Makes me think twice about visiting -- ok, I thought about it.. I'll just have to deal. Or as my Dad says.. "Suffer!" (Probably a Grpa/Grma line. HAHAHA) It sounds like you are having way too much fun. Maybe I should come out and do the "Aunt Dawn Weight Loss Program" with you. Keep it up! :) Luv ya!  Niece April

    Comments From Dawn - 9 June 2005

I liked reading about the "helpful" stuff, about the spider, it helped me "deal". We'll see how well I do on my exercise regime before we label it as a good thing. I would love someone to do the work with. It's a bit lonely in the gym but maybe that is a good thing as I don't have to be self-conscious about how little time I am able to "hang in".

The rattan furniture which Dad brought back from Manila, Phillipines when he was flying Military Air Charters into Vietnam for United Air Lines: We had that as our main furniture for about 5 years when we lived in the mobile home in Anaheim and in the rental house in Yorba Linda. We used it for a while when we lived in Moreno Valley, but finally it was breaking down and we sold it at a garage sale just before our move to Arizona to a guy who was excited about restoring it. Shortly after that, we saw a similar set of furniture for sale at a retail store for over $6000.  Brother Bill

    Comments From Dawn - 9 June 2005

Mom and Dad had great taste. It was great furniture. I had something similar on my porch that Mom gave me in Corpus but not near the quality as the other. I remember Dad flying to the Philippines but I was quite young. I remember a ring he brought me from there then that I lost when I was in Jr. High. Had no idea he was doing Military Air Charters though I remember him mentioning it but didn't put that with UAL. I thought it was before he worked for them. Anyway. Interesting the things we remember. So, Bill do you enjoy the Hawaiian music as much as I do from hearing it all the time around the house?

Dawn, where do the native folks go for a vacation? Troy

    Comments From Dawn - 1 June 2005

I wondered too. Kind of like Corpus Christi I think the tourist wondered about us. Mostly I notice they go to the other islands. They seem to usually have family on Oahu or Malakai. They also go shopping on the Big Island a lot. There are often airline round trip specials .

Happy Memorial Day... sounds like you had a great weekend. Hot here in Scottsdale as usual but we all had a nice day around the pool. Good luck on the part-time job hunt. - Brother Bill

    Comments From Dawn - 1 June 2005

Well, the job hunt turned into a whole other thing. I got my application from Roberts Tours which requires a traffic abstract and a criminal abstract along with the application. To get the traffic abstract I needed to get a Hawaii drivers license. I had been told when I got here it was not required so never did it. When I applied for my driver’s license I was sent to another counter to transfer my CDL to Hawaii. To do that I have to have the two abstracts, a PUC physical, a 2x2 passport photo and 30.00. Turns out they are a federal requirement to transfer my CDL. I went to the court house in Lihue and got my traffic abstract. I then went to the police station, by the airport, and got my criminal abstract. You'll be happy to know that I have "No conviction or public sex offender" record. I also have "No moving violations" (obviously they don't look very far back). So, now all that is left is the photo and my physical. Then I can apply for my CDL (take a test too I think) and then I can apply to drive a bus here. Whewwww, long day. This documentation will also help later if I apply for any other federal positions... Like screener at the airport (thinking about it since the pay is great and they hire part timers), also the missile base, and the college (if I ever decide to do that full time). Oh, I also got a library card today. Guess I live here now.

You are just getting way to into using kewl Bill.  Are you saying it at work too?  Bet they think you are crazy.  Glad you liked the pictures.  I talked with Fran today and she requested overview type pictures of where it is, etc.  I like that idea so will work on it.  There is a pool, gym, sauna, tennis courts, etc. here and it's all on a cliff with little valleys around the units.  The place is up a cliff off the beach Hwy.  I'll have to figure out a way to get that shot.  EV... gave a hint in my blog so keep on guessing.  I really liked Jeanne and your guess of Emerald Van but wasn't what I had in mind when I named it.

Hi Dawn! Bette Kussmann from New Orleans just to say hi! And I'm green with envy! My husband Ken and I went to Hawaii (all islands but Molakai) years ago and fell in love with the place. We crammed in so much into 2 weeks - Helicopter ride thru canyons, glider rides above the Big Island, rain forests, botanical gardens, Queen's palace, Diamondhead, even survived the trip to Hana! I was so impressed that when we came home we had a big luau with a lot of the island foods - including poi! I love all your pictures. Yep, I'm green alright! Dawn, just want to tell you again what a great job I think you are doing on the web page. You a quite an asset! I'm so glad we have you! Bette

I'm so glad you're enjoying the SCR website Bette.  I'm really enjoying doing the site for your group and thank you for the praise.  Everyone has such great ideas so it  makes it easy to do..  I've never been in a helicopter and hearing about the trips here makes me wonder if that is something I might do sometime.  I wrote before about the pilot I met at the party we had for Jacque and he was such a great guy I may think about it sometime.  Sounds like you had a great time.

The lei's are beautiful, Dawn. Joe and I got married on the Kona coast of Hawaii and I had a lovely white lei of small white flowers that had to be picked in the morning - not sure what kind of flower. Joe had a large green-leaf lei that looked like bay leaves. Your photos brought back some very nice memories. Jeanne

Comments From Dawn-Date: 3 May 2005 Time: 10:00:00 Hawaiian Time

I remember your wedding photo Jeanne.  I think being married in Hawaii has got to be the best memory.  Those were crown flowers I'll bet.  When I took that lei making class that is what they gave us near the end because someone delivered them late.  Ti leaves might be the leaves.  They wash and iron them before using them which is totally amazing to me.  Some cook them in the microwave too.  I'm glad you're enjoying the pictures.  I hope all is well with you and Joe.  Miss you.

It's been ranging 2.55 to 2.65.  So, less than 70 cents more than you right (1.99 in CC)?  What's funny is it isn't really a big deal.  I've been here one month as of yesterday and I've bought a total of one full tank of gas.  I drive all over looking around too but it's just not that far to anywhere.  It probably helps that I don't go to work like most do but I walked to work in CC also.

Ooooooooh what a sunset with Nihau. So how come they have the hunting safaris if they would not let just any old person visit? Maybe I should go back and read that again. Loved the pictures. Looked like a fun party. I'm glad there are some cats around even though most won't let you pet. Appears you are meeting some interesting folks. Ann

Comments From Dawn-Date: 3 Apr 2005 Time: 21:48:00 Hawaiian Time

Well, they just recently opened it up to the half day safaris.  The articles say that one reason they are allowing it is to control the animal population.  Another article talks about the famous shell leis too.  I've seen them on display several places and they are gorgeous.  The family bought the island and have kept to a strict notion of conservation, history, etc.  I also read one article where the matriarch moved to Kauai because the weather was better but it didn't say if she is still here on the island.  I'll have to ask one of my Hawaiian friends next time about that.  On the subject of land.  I read an article today when I was looking up property regulations and thought this was interesting....

22,000 acres called the Grove Farm was purchased by Steve Case, founder and CEO of America Online, in December 2000 for $152 per share - 26 million.  His father grew up on Grove Farm land and Case graduated from a Punahou School here.  The shopping area I frequent, Kukui Grove Mall, is on Grove Farm Land.  Case is reported as being Kauai's first billionaire.  Thought that was an interesting tidbit.  The article goes on about other fascinating things but that was part I thought everyone might find interesting.

Love the rooster!! I can think of better ways to give up caffeine! Watched the race show tonight. Amber & Rob kicked butt. Survivor is on tomorrow instead of Thursday. I've been busy again going thru more of Mom's stuff. I think instead of getting smaller it is multiplying. I'm shooting for a yard sale on the second. We have been having some beautiful days. All I can think about is the high price of gas and my CP&L bill. You are having so much fun and I am jealous. We need a new picture every 25 lbs. Aloha! Ann

Well, I just stopped by to check out the latest news. I love the video clip of you saying Aloha. I talked to Ana today and she said she was closing today. I bet that is a load off your mind. We had a beautiful day on Sunday, but on Saturday it rained. Micheal got his truck stuck and had to use the tractor to pull him out on Sunday morning. I got a serious haircut and the first time ever, I got my hair highlighted with caramel highlights. I need to lose the 25 lbs you have lost and then I can be a hot mama :-). Well I got to get back to work. Keep up with the BLOG so I can know what is happening in your life. Miss you lots.  Amy

Congratulations on giving up caffeine, Dawn! My electrologist lived in Kauia (forgot how it's spelled!) for three years, so I'm sending her your URL. Glad you're getting into shape, too! :) And it's nice to hear that dust bunnies aren't just under my bed. Keep in touch! Love from Donna, Snickers, Tasha, Gabby

Went to Fran's tonight, Judy also. Survivor was on last night but we all missed it. Bummer. The Apprentice was a recap show of shows this season. Showed some scenes we had not seen before, basically boring. Appears all the houses in your neighborhood are colorful. I love it. Hope you find your new place soon. Ann

Comments From Dawn-Date: 15 Mar 2005 Time: 21:14:05 Hawaiian Time

I actually got home in time to see the last half hour of Apprentice.  It was great since I had missed so much.  I was very excited to watch Survivor yesterday.  Sorry you missed it as it was fantastic!  So, glad Judy is going now too.  They booted two people.  Yes, the houses are very colorful here in my little world.  I guess you saw the one that is yellow next door.  It has a great plumeria tree.  Terry (who lives across the drive) is working on that one as a new renter (Jacque) is moving in tomorrow so since he had the paint out I took the yellow and redid my porch floor and railings.  I'll take a pictures tomorrow so you can see the great facelift.  Thanks for the news update on Fran's TV night.  Miss y'all.

    Hey Dawn,

Glad to see you are getting settled in and exploring. I passed by your house a couple of weeks ago to find the "sold" sign. :( I guess you left much sooner than I expected, but I'm glad you were able to quickly sell your house and start your new life in Hawaii.

I have enjoyed reading about your days, seeing the pictures, and can't wait to see more (especially "Queen's Bath". Darn, I wish I was there. Is the water there warm? You know me - cold all the time so I need heat. Anyway, have fun and know someone is thinking of you.

    Love ya, Melinda Cantu-Martin

Comments From Dawn-Date: 15 Mar 2005 Time: 19:14:05 Hawaiian Time

Sorry I missed saying good bye to you Melinda.  Yes, it was a quickie that was for sure.  Sold the house with the first buyer.  It was very exciting and very hard work.  It was an amazing experience to put the SOLD sign up before we ever put a FOR SALE sign up.  I'm looking forward to my next outing to Queens bath so keep looking.  The weather has not cooperated yet.  I need two days of dry and we have had some whoppers of wind and rain lately.  The water is a breath taker when I first get in but then it is just fine.  I have not snorkeled as much as I will later as the high surf makes me a bit nervous.  I have plenty of time.... a lifetime :)  Thanks for thinking of me as I really enjoy the notes from everyone.  Love ya back!

10 more lbs. and so much fun while losing! I really enjoy reading your journal (so to speak). Same old same here. Went to Portland and had our once a month dinner with four high school buddies. Hard to believe after 39 years we are still in touch and good friends. Yes that is what I said 39 years. Time just rolls back. I'm going to make a new pie for tomorrow night. We will think of you as we eat and watch survivor. We will try to take better notes. Since it is during your class maybe I should tape and send to you. Will have to be VCR as I am as always way behind everyone else. Love, Ann

    Comments From Dawn-Date: 09 Mar 2005 Time: 22:14:05

I'm very disappointed about Survivor and appreciate the offer but I'm even more behind the times than you are now... no VCR anymore either LOL.  I  miss my digital recording ability but not enough to get it here yet.  I'm not watching TV very much anymore.  Anyway, one day I'll look and see if they put this season on DVD and get it.  39 years Ann?  Lordy!  Yes, we are all getting old.  Y'all enjoy the shows and think of me studying my butt off :)  Have a great time and keep good notes for me.  I'm really enjoying Fran and My internet video calls.  They are much fun and she will share the show highlights with me then .  Tell everyone Hi at Dinner & Show night at Fran's.

So glad to hear that you made it safe!! We talked about you yesterday while quilting. And Jill puts us all to shame so is so fast. Your place looks small but comfortable. Stay in touch. Love Cathy

Cathy, I miss you so much! Jill wrote me a note about the quilting night also. Tell Michelle you got everything because you are a very special lady :) and it was really nice that you shared (LOL).  I really wanted to tell you that I felt bad that we didn't get to say a proper goodbye. With all that was going on those last days in CC it was just not going to happen. Anyway, I want you to know that you have been a great friend and I do expect you to drag Dale here and visit! Tell him I said it is still the USA and he will really like it. I'll even let him sit on my Lanai all day and not do a thing. Of course he will do that while I take you to the fabric store! Hopefully my future place will have a great Lanai and that extra bedroom is looking mighty welcome now as I have already started accumulating quite a bit. You are right it's small but I really kind of like it for now. Soon I will need more space for my friends and family to visit. My brother Paul wrote and he will stop in May on his way to Asia for a couple of days I think; Sandy is coming around then too. I think I will see my brothers more here than I ever did living in Corpus. That will be a treat and I really hope all my friends plan to come see me too. Lordy save me when the boxes I mailed to myself arrive. They are on the slow boat... 3 weeks from the post office and will fill the bedroom. Too funny! Dawn

I know about those little Menehune guys. Pretty neat. We lived close to a tribe of Pygmies when I was in my twenties, cute little folk who came out at night and messed the house up. We grew quite fond of them and named then Jenny and John. Now they have their own pygmies.

May the force be with you! Frannycat

It was unbelievable this morning.  There has been a high surf warning for the last couple of days and they are saying it is a record high.  I went to Poipu this morning to snorkel and it was pretty rough.  I only stayed in for about an hour but I'll go again tomorrow.  The water was a shock at first but plenty warm after I got used to it.  I'll go to the Northside on Wednesday and take some pictures of the surf.  The pictures should be amazing.  I'm going to try to find Tunnels.  I'm not sure where Hal drove us but I'll look at my map and see if I can find it.  I'm going to try to go really early so I can stop first at Queens Bath again.  I still want to see it and I'm hoping during the week there will be a place to park.

I'll write about it in the journal pages.  Anyway it will be over a week until I get a phone.  When you have time try to call me and when it goes to voicemail I'll try to get a signal out and call you.  Stupid thing drops but I can usually get in some conversation here and there.  Little snags have happened here and there (amazingly few that have bothered me) but I AM HAVING THE BEST DANG TIME!!!!  I can't wait for your visit so I can show you places my brother Hal showed me and now some new places that I have added to the tour.

Thanks Donna.  Pet the cats for me.  I miss my Bunny but she is doing very well at Scott's house he says.  He said he will have his computer up soon so I can see her on his webcam.  There are 5 cats here in our little 6 cottage neighborhood.  One lady feeds them.  Only 2 will let me pet them so far but it's nice to have them around.
